Very authentic and down to earth environment. All you can eat for 100 minutes plus free drinks and ice cream. Order as many hot pot cookable dishes as you want! When great for relaxing in an intimate environment. Wish the outer entrance were better decorated, nearly walked past it!

Amazing hot pot place!! Did I mention it's all you can eat? For around $50 per person after tax and tip, you can enjoy a wide variety of hot pot entrees. I loved the all you can drink selection as well - there's alcoholic drinks as well as asian drinks from my childhood! The ingredients are fresh, and there is a ton of options to choose from. but make sure you don't over order because you do get charged extra for not finishing your food. There's also ace ice cream, make sure you get the taro ice cream, it's almost as good as the hot pot.

Couple of comments about Hou Yi. 1. Unique in the sense that they have unlimited asian drinks. The Snow pear drink and the probiotic yogurt drinks were a huge hit on my table. 2. I wouldn't say overall the quality of the meat or food is better than the Hometown BBQ or 99 Favors. Yet it costs $40 which is a good $5-10 more than the other restaurants. $40 is a lot to pay for all you can eat hot pot. (Considering you can do all you eat at home for like $15). 3. That spicy broth is no joke. That peppercorn had everyone on our table sneezing all night. Almost everybody on our table (9 people) hit the toilet the morning after. That spicy broth will clean you out. Sorry if thats TMI. 4. There is a 1hr and 40 minute time limit but its unfair to enforce because that service is REALLY slow. I felt bad for those high school kids servers because they're working as fast as they can. Those kids are running back and forth but it still takes awhile for your order to come. It took us 30 minutes from us sitting down to getting our pot and food. My tip would be to order large portions and to order while you're eating and cooking. Since its so busy that its going to be awhile before your order comes out again. 5. That ice cream cone is legit. Save room at the end for it.

Adding to the debate of 99 Favor Yaste versus Hou Yi for all-you-can-eat hot pot - my vote goes towards this place. Yes, it's a bit pricier but the wider variety and quality of ingredients make it worth the extra money ($29.95 versus $22.95 at Favor 99) Here's why I make this my go-to ayce hot pot spot! -fresh and wide variety of vegetables (gotta work in those greens even when you're at ayce, you know?) -a rich assortment of quality meat -unlimited non-alcoholic asian drinks (we are talking about legit asian drinks aka grass jelly) -unlimited ice cream (we aren't taking about basic ice cream flavors - we are talking about lavendar, matcha, birthday cake, etc. that you can top with pocky, if that's you're thing) The service is great! The food comes out super quick. The broth is very flavorful. Do keep in mind that you have a time limit. I would highly recommend getting a reservation if you're planning to roll in with a large group. Overall, I would definitely take my gluttony here to fulfill all my hot pot cravings. Hou Yi Hot Pot is the SPOT! I came with a group of tenish of people and everyone walked away very satisfied.

This place has remained a favorite of mine for over 3 years so I decided it was time to finally write a review. To start off: Yes, it's true, Hou Yi is more expensive than all the neighboring options (including the very popular 99 Favor). BUT, let me just tell you, it is definitely worth it! There's usually one pot per table and is $30 per person. Stopped by on a Wednesday night around dinner time right before the rush so we got seated really quickly. After being seated, the server will give you two sheets of paper and a pen. The first sheet is for the soup bases. The herb with beef and herb with pork are my go-to. The soup isn't too heavily loaded with herbs so it's not overpowering. The second sheet is for the meats, veggies, and seafood. You just have to check off the quantity of each that you would like. My experience every time is that everything is so fresh. The meats are a nice red color, unlike some other places where the beef looks kind of lifeless. The other highlight is that the $30 per person includes unlimited non-alcoholic drinks. There's a huge variety from a soda machine with your typical soft drinks to Chinese herbal tea. Ice cream is also unlimited. The flavors vary from birthday cake to banana strawberry. Service is quick and with the way the the restaurant is laid out, it's quite easy to get the server's attention. Definitely recommend you give Hou Yi a try!

Good hot pot spot (haha) in the East village! You can split the pot half and half so it's friendly for vegetarians. Choose from a variety of stocks including spicy, and veggies. TONS of veggie options on the menu, along with the normal meat and seafood for Omnis. Veggies were fresh and there are different kinds of mushoom, tofu, beancurd. The service is fast and you will not leave here hungry at all. It's all you can eat for ~$28 per person. There is a huge sauce bar so you can make a wide variety of combination of sauces! The difference between Hou Yi and some of the other hot pot places is that the price includes unlimited drinks (non-alcoholic) such as soybean, grass jelly, green tea (Asian style packaged drinks), and also includes ice cream dessert!! The wait was 30-40min at peak hour on a weekend for 2 people. That's pretty average (even short!) for hot pot at peak hours. I would come back for hot pot if I wanted unlimited drinks. Otherwise it doesn't seem significantly different from other hot pot places for me.
